Chaplain Curtis McLaughlin

Curt McLaughlin, BCC, System Director of Pastoral Care, CoxHealth

Curt is responsible for building a culture of spiritual and emotional support for six hospitals within the CoxHealth System (Springfield, Missouri). He is privileged to serve with a CPE Supervisor, six staff chaplains, seven resident chaplains and over 40 volunteers. Curt has served in four healthcare systems: Baylor University Medical Center (Dallas, TX), Mercy (Joplin, MO), Select Specialty Hospital (Springfield, MO) and CoxHealth (Springfield, MO). Curt strives to be an advocate for the most vulnerable and embraces the honor of journeying alongside those going through the most difficult seasons of life. He is also passionate about leading his fellow chaplains, advocating so that they are unhindered to minister.

Curt has a Master of Christian Education from Dallas Theological Seminary in 2009 and a Communication/Public Relation Degree from Missouri State University in 2002. He accomplished board certification in 2019 and has continued studies in palliative care, ethics, conflict management, grief support, trauma services and multiculturalism. He also serves as the co-coordinator of the CoxHealth Crisis Care Team, a response team of over 60 interdisciplinary team members who support staff during adverse events.

Curt entered a personal relationship with Christ in undergraduate school. His prayer is that he would always be willing to go and to do what the Lord desires. He is married to his wife Barbie (of Wentzville, MO) and together they have four children: Michael, Katherine, Mark and Caroline.
