Values
Our philosophy is motivated by several core values. These are not aspirational, but have characterized us for decades.
We cherish core Assembly principles
We are committed to partnering with churches and ministries who have a connection to the group of churches known as the Plymouth Brethren Assemblies (or Christian Brethren).
We are a strategic funder
We seek out projects which will not progress without our help. That is to say, we understand raising money for projects is difficult so we value stepping in to help a group of people who do not have the traditional skills or the ability to raise such sums on their own. While there is latitude in its ministry, Stewards Ministries focuses on four areas of service.
Growth
Stewards Ministries invests in programs aimed at establishing and rejuvenating Brethren Assemblies nationally and internationally.
Biblical Needs
Stewards Ministries provides support and assistance to widows and widowers, and retired commended workers. Stewards Ministries also helps commended workers with acute financial and personal needs as they become known.
Evangelism and Missions
Stewards Ministries gives financial assistance to the evangelistic and missionary efforts of Brethren commended workers, assemblies and Brethren related ministries.
Leadership Development
Stewards Ministries aids in the fostering of biblical leadership in local assemblies. This includes developing leadership in areas of ministry such as outreach and evangelism, teaching, youth and music. Scholarships are available for commended workers who want to further their education and sharpen their ministry skills.
We work with willing partners
Since we believe in the autonomy of the local church, we do not believe it is our responsibility to try to create or save movements of churches. Rather, our aim is to find those with who we can join common cause and partner with them.
We value accountable partners
We value partnerships and look for men and women with whom we can work to further the work of the gospel. While we expect our partners to understand and manage well the work they do, we look for those who will welcome us to the table to share our perspective on the work as well. We enjoy working with partners to make projects better. We appreciate those who can do a lot with a little. With few exceptions, we will not make gifts for general operations, and we avoid large-scale brick and mortar projects.
